The second and final installment of my collaboration with Okay Kaya, Blurb 2, is out now. Released last Friday, it feels good to have this music finally see the light of day.
We wrote the record after touring Blurb, the first album we made together, in early spring 2025. It was an eventful year, and I think we both had songs that needed to be worked through and recorded. The writing came quickly—we finished everything in about a day and a half. At the time, Kaya was living on an island just outside Oslo, surrounded by ocean water and mountains shedding the last of winter. It felt like a natural starting point. The recording took place in Stockholm at Globe Studios, with engineering by Daniel Fagerström, and it took four of the five scheduled days to complete. A few months later, while spending a month in Japan, I began mixing the record. Blurb 2 is an adequate representation of kaya and my writing process. Direct, thoughtless and empty to a point. I am happy with these uncrafted pop songs as they contain so much suffering and friendship.
